Hi Aptitud Community!

My name is Suyen Jimenez, and I am honored to serve as your School Principal at Aptitud Academy. I am eager to bring my experience, passion, and dedication to our vibrant community and work collaboratively to ensure the success and well-being of every student.

My journey in education began over four years ago when I worked in a non-profit after-school program as a Program Leader and Site Supervisor at Adelante Dual Language Academy in East San Jose. This experience ignited my passion for education and community engagement, inspiring me to pursue a career in teaching and school leadership. Since then, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles within the educational field.

As a teacher, I strived to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment where students felt valued and motivated to achieve their best. My role as a department chair allowed me to lead and support my colleagues in delivering high-quality education, fostering a collaborative and innovative teaching community. I also had the honor of mentoring new teachers, providing guidance and support as they navigated the early stages of their careers.

In my five years as an assistant principal, I gained invaluable experience in school administration, student support, and curriculum development. Serving as an acting principal further solidified my commitment to educational leadership and my belief in the power of a strong, supportive school community.

I am deeply passionate about serving the needs of the whole child, understanding that each student is unique and requires a holistic approach to reach their full potential. My goal is to create a nurturing and empowering environment at Aptitud Academy where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Building a strong, connected community is at the heart of my vision for Aptitud Academy. I believe that fostering open communication and collaboration between the school and families is essential for our students' success. I am committed to taking the time to hear parents' concerns, understand their perspectives, and support them in any way I can. Together, we can create a supportive and inclusive environment that benefits all our children.

I am excited to continue this journey with all of you and look forward to working together to make this school year a remarkable and successful one for our students. Let's inspire and support our children as they grow into confident, capable, and compassionate individuals.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Jimenez

Hello Aptitud Community,

I'm grateful to be part of the Aptitud community, contributing to our collective mission of empowering every student to achieve their fullest potential across all aspects of their lives.

I have been dedicated to public education since 2004, beginning as a para educator for the Deaf before becoming a trilingual (ASL, Spanish, & English) educational interpreter at Arizona State Schools for the Deaf & Blind/SWR. In 2010, I graduated from Sterling College (Sterling, KS) with my BA in Psychology and ventured into being a school psychologist specialized in Deafness earning my MA in Developmental Psychology and Psy. S. School Psychologist degree at Gallaudet University (Washington DC) in 2013. I then started my internship at California School for the Deaf in Riverside and have been a school psychologist since then. I have been serving in public as a school psychologist in primarily in the Southwestern region of the US, including Clark County School District (Las Vegas, NV), Washington Elementary School District (Phoenix, AZ), and Alum Rock Union School District (San Jose, CA). Before returning to ARUSD, I was a Lead school psychologist in Scottsdale Unified School district for 2.5 years. Now, in 2024, I embrace a new role as Vice Principal at Aptitud Academy at Goss, where I will serve our community with respect and care for students, families, and staff.

At your service,
Mrs. Jasmin
